There’s a woman I see around campus to whom I say hi and who says hi back but I don’t think either of us knows how we know the other. Though we’re pretty sure we met and knew each other at one point neither of us knows when that happened or, for that matter, that it ever actually did. We’ll never bring it up to each other of course.

Wikipedia is funny.
From the article on the Sichuan peppercorn: The foul smell masking property of Sichuan pepper made it popular in offal dishes.

Rubik’s R-R-R-Revolution
If you put a sequence of Rubik’s cube moves into this thing it’ll spit out the number of times that sequence needs to be repeated in order for you to put the cube back in the state that it started in. So, for instance, “F”, will output 4, because after four twists of the forward face of the cube it’ll all be back where it started. I thought I’d keep track of all the sequences tested before I really realized that there’s probably a fairly low (i.e finite) possible maximum, and that I’ve reached it. But that’s why you can input your name and hometown — in case you set the record.

AVCVideoCap not working
The AVCVideoCap application that’s available in the Developer package from Apple is not working for me anymore. Back last year when it worked fine for me I would have two dialogs after I pressed Capture From Device. It would first ask for a file name and then it would ask for how long I’d like to record. It no longer asks for how long. It goes back to the AVCVideoCap window and lets me know that it “could not open device” in the Capture Status field whereas it used to tell me something about it being either usable or encrypted video.
There are other people having the same problem: DCH3416 not talking with AVCVideoCap 1.06 (avsforums.com).
I’m now looking into other options like using VLC as discussed here: AVCVideoCap and streaming.

Just found this option: FireRecord or iRecord v0.4 (look for the previous versions on the right-side). FireRecord only works in Leopard. iRecord v0.4 works for me in Tiger 10.4.11. Thanks to Ammesset Software.

Falickuli Falickula
Blogs are easy to make fun of when they’re not written well. And I can’t write well at all. So this blog will mostly just be plagiarism. Except for this post.
